Wordzzle challenge 2011#1

Shelby Lynne’s stomach was growling like a tiger, Chewing gum would only suffice for so long. With Empty plate in one hand school books in the other the newspaper caught her attention,’ Canary in shoe box survives extreme heating in traffic.’

Mega:

Feeling like the canary in a shoe box in the news paper article, Shelby Lynne reached past the books in her backpack, searching for chewing gum to make her dry mouth watery. Out the window she saw a student take a crescent leap. Caught by surprise the prey brought nothing to the table, an empty plate crushed by a tiger. The bus driver turned up the heating acting blind as he maneuvered through traffic to the next stop.

mini:

Awake… watching the crescent moon through the blind Shelby Lynne resisted the urge to leap from bed to read the full article and eventually drifted off behind her tired watery eyes.

Ten word:

Today Aunt Bessie had to go to the medical center then to the post office for shipping documents for holiday parcels, giving Shelby Lynne the choice to come with or not. Shelby Lynne wondered if her Aunt had secrets about her health. What would be at stake should Aunt Bessie start having health issues, that could be a disaster.  Shelby Lynne was so deep in the clouds Aunt Bessie was back down to the waiting room and done with the Doctor in no time, saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun,  I can celebrate the holidays in good health”.

Mini:

The post office was located at the back of the  Old General Store. While Aunt Betsy did her cost research. Shelby Lynne decided on a toy mouse for her kitty. The line up at the cash was insane due to lottery sales but she was still able to hear Aunt Bessie with clarity when she yelled above those in line that she would be waiting in the car.

Mega:

Upon returning home Aunt Bessie asked Penny Sue how she was doing with her research project.

“Time flies when you are having fun” was Penny Sue’s response. Continuing on to say how insane the project is and her teacher should have provided with clarity what was at stake should it not be completed.

“The choice is yours”  said Aunt Bessie.
To not complete it would be a disaster, they all knew that. Their mother would have Penny Sue to the doctor to make sure she was still on the right type of medicine.

Shelby Lynne listened to their conversation quietly, teasing Jewel with the toy mouse. The rattling of  Aunt Bessie’s shipping documents brought Shelby Lynne back down off the clouds from thinking about what secrets could be keeping mother at Uncle Studley Duke’s for so long. Wondering when they could celebrate her return would be like trying to pick the winning lottery numbers.

Shelby Lynne knows prosperity will be there in her calling, but with career day tomorrow she wished she knew what that calling was. Do the preponderance of students know what their calling is? Or are they picking something because it’s chosen or expected of them? Plugging the air freshener into the electrical outlet, how long it would take the incense of sugar cane to float about the room. Will it make her salivate for a sweet snack or act as chloroform as her head hits the pillows in sweet dreams, an escape from the feeling of  being chopped liver because she does not know her life’s purpose.
Mini:
Shelby Lynne  lay awake staring at the shadow cast on the ceiling from the lamp shade. Awoken by a dream, clips of movies playing over and over never getting to the point where the characters unleash their hidden potential. One thing is for sure she had to to remember to thank the teacher for a sleepless night.
Mega:
As she entered her bedroom Shelby Lynne pulled the plug of the sugar cane incense from the electrical outlet. It neither acted like chloroform nor made her salivate for sweets. It instead turned her stomach as if she ate too much chopped liver. Laying her head on the pillows the shadows from the lampshade disappeared into the darkness behind her eyelids. Happy she did thank her teacher for the career option movies shown in class today. She can sleep easy knowing that the preponderance of students her age do not know their life's purpose or even think that  far ahead other than dreams of the prosperity they will unleash.

Wordzzle Challenge 24

Words for this week (Raven's Week # 124) 10-word challenge were:

MeGA- Raising an eyebrow Shelby Lynne was thinking channeling Raindrops for Water torture would be more effortless and amusing than this assembly. It takes three pages just for the title, The Corner Stone of Biology. Fasten Your mind and hold your fluid… You’ll be lichen this . Give me a break. What time zone has this speaker leapt from, he needs to reset his rolex for this century. It will take a cold-stone to stay awake, and  Then to be tested on the decreasing acreage available for sole and rock tripe reproduction.
TEN WORD- Pinching the corner of her eyebrow, Shelby Lynne did not find the speaker amusing, occasionally glancing at his rolex he leapt with a strange effortless enthusiasm over raindrops and how a cold-stone may effect the reproductive habits of fresh water sole.
MiNI- Shelby Lynne flipped through the pages with a fluid motion wondering if she would remember the details of how rock tripe fasten themselves to rocks and the amount of acreage this lichen cover in North America.

Saturday Wordzzle Challenge #23

 

Raven’s Week 117  the 10-word challenge was: smoothly, spiders, floor boards, eggs, carpet, moonshine, leaping, CD, purring, jewel

10 word Challenge:

With Jewel purring Shelby Lynne Stayed quiet on the carpet as Penny Sue slid smoothly by on the floor boards, leaping about to the song Moonshine. Shelby Lynne could feel anger building up as to how Penny Sue got money for the new CD by Spiders and Eggs.

MEGA Challenge:

The School year came and went unnoticed as Shelby Lynne did not require the spotlight like her sister Penny Sue, who was leaping about to her new music. Shelby Lynne rolled her eyes preferring the area carpet listening to Jewel Purring, as the kitty smoothly stretched out , dragging her claws into the floor boards. Shelby Lynne knew that her sister stole from her money-box for two CD’s; Moonshine by Spiders and Eggs, and Eye-drops by Canvas.

Mini Challenge:

Penny Sue is so good at capturing the Drama Queen Spotlight. The kitty was startled by Penny Sue’s reaction over accusations of stealing from Shelby Lynne’s money-box. The CD by Canvas titled Eye-drops will now forever be known as tantrum teardrops.

Saturday Wordzzle Challenge # 19-

 

 

Ten Word:

Shelby Lynne's mother sullenly watched the evergreen trees pass by as the plane’s engine roared on a dangerous decline destined for the lower end of Medicine Creek. Her head continually in a bauble motion scanning as they flew over. This day as with all days she had already bespoke Penny Sue back in her presence. With a still grayness over the freight yard in the distance she focused on the odd sunray which hung like tinsel on the trees below.

 

Mini:

Either the carbon emissions from the plane where getting to her or she has grown feelers on her head to know outright that Penny Sue was near. A mirage of Penny Sue in Ballet class was fizzing through her head.

 

Mega:

Penny Sue pressed her forehead to the window so it would not bauble when the bus changed gears. She sullenly focused no further than the drops of rain that streamed down the panes like tinsel. With her heart now carrying more freight than before Penny Sue tried not to consider her actions dangerous, but knew her mother would be outright mad.  She wondered what type of medicine she was destined for.  Trying to drown out the carbon knock of the engine she watched a bug fizzing it’s wings in a struggle to free it’s feelers from a water droplet.  With the last cent of her money spent on the transit fare the bus route came to its end.  She was done.  The words she bespoke to go home echoed in her head as she did sort of a ballet pirouette to watch the alligator painted plane pass over as she was dashing from the bus toward the evergreen trees for shelter.

Saturday Wordzzle Challenge 18 On track To Get Penny Sue Back

This weeks posts are an attempt to get back on track now that school is back in. It has been a couple of weeks since there have been new leads on finding Shelby Lynne’s sister Penny Sue. You can read last weeks Wordzzle Challenge: In The Shadows and Portrait of Words 5: Get Off Your Canoehead Shelby Lynne! if you are interested. There were both just posted today.

Uncle Jimmie Rambler and Shelby Lynne’s mother approached the plane painted like an alligator as the pilot known as Lark inspected the propeller. Apparently at one time he was the town drunk, a slave to the bottle. Now he keeps a constant supply of carrots in the cockpit. His charitable flights to leave no mountainside unsearched is a tribute to those who saved him.

Like a chisel Shelby Lynne’s mother pried her way into the small aircraft. Noticing the bag of organic vegetables was a plus. To know that Lark is a man of worship and is no longer on a suicide mission.

The painted design was a tribute to those who found him. A reminder that he was no longer a drunk who stumbled between the war torn mountainside in his mind and the alligator infested everglades where he was found. Being a slave to the bottle was a chisel that gouged deep into his soul. Lark continued with the pre-flight check pleased that he chose his plane over suicide. It took great preparation and worship for him to spin the propeller again. Plus he had found purpose in conducting his charitable flights while snacking on organic mini carrots.
